The church of Santa Maria del Pi de Barcelona was established in the 14th century and is a prime example of Catalan religious Gothic architecture. This style is distinguished by a noticeable flatness and a precise dispersion of mortar, which provides strength to the nearly blind walls & no carved ornamentations.
Basilica St. Mary Del Pi church has amazing work inside, an exotic combination of modern refurbishment & past remains. It has a single nave & multiple altars covered with high cross vault ceilings & stained glass windows by Antoni Viladomat. It also includes a statue of Santa Maria del Pi by sculptor Enric Monjo in the museum.
The Gothic structure has an octagonal floor plan and is 54 meters tall. It is divided into five stories and has a readily accessible flat roof that serves spectacular vistas for the city. The windows with pointed arches are open to all of the bell tower's faces, and the bells are installed within them. The bell tower is one of the most interesting medieval architectures in the city, yet is one of the least known.
A big rose window on the Church's main front is an exact replica of the original window 1940, which was destroyed by fire in 1936. A Gothic arch of the main entrance is seen beneath the window. The Church of St. Mary's side facade has buttresses to support the weight of the arches and vault of the nave.
