When I purchased the Hola Barcelona cards, I went to read the reviews and was a little concerned xbecause so many people complained that they were not able to pick up the cards right away. In fact on the website it is reported to go to the machines at the Airport, enter the Qcode etc.... I recommend you follow our advice: We simply looked for the tourist information office, which you will find near the final gate from which you exit the airport(I attach photo). So as soon as you get on the plane head for the exit, without looking around for who knows what. When you arrive at this info point (there is a statue of a horse in front of it, you can't miss it), hand over the Hola Barcelona card(s) purchase sheet and the employee will issue the cards to you on the fly. All very simple. With these you will be able to get around, on practically any means, except the Aerobus that goes from the airport to the center (you don't need it because a few hundred meters away you will find the metro... xwhy pay for the bus!:bad_shrug:), and the cable car (which we didn't take x time. Enjoy Barcelona, it's beautiful!!! 💯

Once we got our tickets it was no problem using them but it was very difficult finding the place to trade our voucher for the tickets. Your instructions to add the voucher number into aTMB machine wasn't even possible. You should not suggest that. Instead give very clear directions and address to the office where you can exchange the voucher.

Unfortunately, according to your description, we were unable to retrieve the tickets from the machines at the airport! Other guests were also at a loss! Finally after pressing the help button we were sent to the tourist information desk in the arrivals hall! This must be written more clearly, we would have saved ourselves 45 minutes of trouble! We had not received a ticket voucher code and nobody from Headout was available. We will not book this with you again !!!

Over all the card was worth its value. However, unclear information on the pick-up site was very inconvenient, maybe going to digital would be better suited or at least make it an option. Also, many locations were overcrowded and not worth waiting in line to visit. perhaps clustering sites that can be visited within walking distance would assist visitors. Again, I did receive what I paid for, and under better circumstances, I believe I could have gained more from the pass.

In fact, the Barcelona Card gives me a 10% discount on most tickets. But if I buy online, I get the same 10% discount without needing the Barcelona Card. Some (a few) tickets were given to me for free as a use of the Barcelona Card, but the price I paid didn't justify it. I was disappointed.

The Barcelona card was an excellent purchase. We mainly used it to access public transportation. We did visit the MOCA and Picasso Museum which were both free with the card and wonderful. It was a nice bonus that both had A/C and were a nice midday escape from the heat. We were only there for two days which limited what we could see. When we come back I will be purchasing the card again!

Swift and easily accessible service. However the return at plaza Espagna was more complicated as no clear indication on where bus is EFFECTIVELY leaving.

Buses very easy to find, both out of the airport and in town. Little waiting between buses. Clean and fast. You can pick up your ticket at the last minute (bus or kiosk), but it's best to buy a round-trip ticket on the Internet. You save on price and peace of mind. In short, ideal!

The station has very dirty toilets. Also, the announcement of the train's arrival is very quick. The train toilet was filthy and had no water. The time it takes to board and store luggage is very fast and there is no help to store it in the appropriate place. There should be an indication of which seat numbers are in each carriage or the carriage number on the ticket. I bought business class and there was only the number 2 on the entrance door of the carriage. This is difficult for anyone who has never traveled by train.

I didn't have to wait too long for the aerobus. The journey went well overall. However, it was very hot in the bus (no air conditioning) and there was no Wi-Fi. The driver had a good drive (pace) however, every bump or turn was felt so the journey was not very pleasant.

Both at the airport and in the city, the stops are immediate and easy to find! We didn't wait 5 minutes for either transfer! Everything worked great with online tickets! Buses are fast, clean and there is enough space for luggage! There's no quicker way to get into the city - top 👍!

On the website it is not explained exactly where you need to take the bus. You should make either a map with an arrow or put an indicative photograph. Because when I got to the square there were no exact directions to the place. Fortunately, I saw the bus going by and took the reverse route. In the evening with darkness, traffic of other buses and cars, chaos of people, suitcases to drag, it is not very practical to turn around looking for the right stop. thank you.

It was easy to book and good value for money. It would be helpful if there was an option to save the ticket to files or add to wallet on phone rather than only being able to access via the app on the return journey the ticket didn't show on the app so had to get into it via my email or type in my booking reference.

We did not have to wait at the airport for the bus, but..... Our hotel was not far from placa catalunya so we had to ride along until the final stop. 1 stop before placa catalunya we were all put off the bus by the driver, he didn't ride any further because too busy. 🙈 This can only happen in Soanje, right?

Finding the airbus was easy. Get on board and you can find free wifi and usb charging outlet. The screen shows the route and the next stop, allowing you to get your bearings. The headout site provided me with all the information. i don't give it the highest rating because at the time of booking it makes the PDF with the tickets searchable only if you download the app. Contacting support via chat provided me with the file right away. It would be convenient to be able to put it on wallet automatically

My experience with the Aerobus was super comfortable. The buses come every 5 minutes, so if you miss one, you never have to wait long. On board, you can easily store your suitcase in special racks, which makes the ride very relaxing. Another plus is that you can follow exactly what the next stop is via the screen, which is very convenient. You can also charge your phone during the ride and free Wi-Fi is available. All in all, a very good and convenient service that I definitely recommend!

We really loved so much the experience. I really think you could explain better all the informations in your app and PDF ticket. For exemple: The informations about which events/access can be enter by QR CODE or only by printed vouchers/cards are really confused. Many tourits became confused. The Aerobus, "Monbus" enterprise, ARE NOT PUBLIC TRANSPORT! As i said, i really didn't understand your explanations and i lost a little time in my arrival in Barcelona.

BarcelonaHola Barcelona Travel Card

Visiting Barcelona? The Hola Barcelona Travel Card offers unlimited access to the city's public transportation system, including metro, buses, trams, and trains, for consecutive periods of 2, 3, 4, or 5 days. And guess, what? Unlike regular tickets or the T-Casual pass, you also get direct access to and from the airport, saving you the €11 round-trip airport fare! This pass simplifies your travel, allowing you to explore Barcelona without the hassle of purchasing individual tickets!

Do you really need a Barcelona travel card?

Valid question! We’d absolutely recommend considering a Barcelona travel card especially if you’re a tourist who doesn’t want to overspend on transportation or struggle with complex ticket options. Barcelona aims for 65% of trips via public transport, yet tourists face challenges navigating the city's transport system. If you’re dealing with confusing ticket types, costly single rides, or language barriers at the ticket machines, the Hola Barcelona Travel Card can make your trip simpler, smoother, and much more affordable.

Tourists exploring Barcelona city with the Hola Barcelona Travel Card Pass for 2 to 5 days, visiting famous landmarks and enjoying local experiences

High costs with single tickets

If you’re planning to explore all day, single tickets add up quickly and can end up being quite expensive. The Hello Barcelona card offers unlimited travel, making it far more cost-effective for travelers hopping around frequently. Alternatively, the Turbopass covers public transport plus a range of city experiences and guided tours, allowing you to see the city without breaking the bank.

Airport transfer confusion

Standard tickets don’t always include the airport metro line, which can catch you off guard right after landing. Having to buy a separate airport ticket can be a hassle and an extra cost. The Hola Barcelona pass includes metro access from El Prat Airport, so you’re covered right from arrival. Or, if you only need direct airport-city transport, the Aerobus Ticket provides a reliable, 35-minute ride with convenient stops around the city center.

Ticket validation and fines

It’s easy to overlook validating your ticket before each journey, but in Barcelona, this can lead to fines if there’s a random inspection. With the Hola BCN tickets, you simply swipe each time—no worries about revalidating or getting fined.

Language barriers at ticket machines

Ticket machines aren’t always user-friendly, especially when they’re mostly in Spanish. Mistakes here can lead to wrong ticket types or wasted money. Pre-purchasing the Hola Barcelona Travel Card or Barcelona All-Inclusive Card online solves this, allowing easy pickup at any metro station with a code.

Barcelona's integrated fare system encompasses 296 municipalities, organized into six zones, facilitating seamless travel with a single ticket or travel card.

Understanding the zones:

  • Zone 1: Covers the entire city of Barcelona and is sufficient if your travels are confined to the city center. This zone also includes the route from Barcelona Airport to the city center, even though the airport is located outside the city limits.
  • Zones 2 to 6: Encompass surrounding towns and areas. If you plan to visit destinations like Montserrat or coastal towns beyond Barcelona, you'll need to consider these zones.

NOTE: The Hola Barcelona Travel Card covers Zone 1, including the FGC urban railway and Rodalies de Catalunya, offering full access to Barcelona's main transit routes.

Tips for getting around Barcelona with the Hola Barcelona Travel Card

  • Night buses aren’t included: The Hola Barcelona Travel Card doesn’t cover night buses, which run during late hours and have line numbers starting with an “N.”
  • Valid for consecutive hours, not days: The card works on a 48, 72, 96, or 120-hour basis, starting from your first use. So, if you start using a 48-hour card at 4pm, it will stay active until 4pm two days later.
  • Avoid peak event times if you can: Barcelona is a hotspot for music festivals like Primavera Sound and Sonar, plus major events like the Mobile World Congress. Unless you’re here for those, you may want to steer clear of these dates, as hotel rates soar and the city gets crowded.
  • Beyond La Rambla: While La Rambla is famous, it’s often packed with tourists. For a more local feel, stroll down the Rambla del Raval, known for its Botero cat sculpture, or the Rambla del Poblenou, which stretches from Diagonal to the beach, offering a more laid-back vibe.
  • Take advantage of free museum hours: Many Barcelona museums offer free entry on certain days. For example, the Picasso Museum is free on the first Sunday of each month and Thursday evenings. The Barcelona Cathedral (not to be confused with the Sagrada Familia) is free to visit between 8:30am and 12:30pm, and again from 5:45pm to 7:30pm. Note that hours may vary by day.
  • Efficient public transport: Navigating Barcelona is simple with its efficient public transport system. The metro and buses make it easy to reach popular spots, and connections to major train and bus stations mean you’re all set for day trips beyond the city.
  • “HolaBCN!” and “Hola Barcelona Travel Card”: You might see this card referred to as “HolaBCN!,” “Hola Barcelona,” or “Hola Barcelona Travel Card.” Until 2019, it was called “HolaBCN!”—a name many still recognize. The only change now is the name; everything else about the card’s benefits remains the same. So, if you spot any of these names, rest assured they all mean the same thing.
